The hospitals of HCA Virginia have a long history of clinical excellence, and many have received national recognition from independent national organizations such as HealthGrades and Thompson/Solucient.

How do we define quality? Our definition includes an emphasis on patient safety, clinical excellence, experience, reputation, innovation in technology and procedures, patient satisfaction, patient outcomes and medical credentials.

We have linked to outside independent organizations that rate hospitals on different criteria so and you can see where a particular HCA hospital ranks in the area of care that is important to you.

Highlights of some of the most recent Independent Survey Results and awards for HCA Virginia facilities:

• CJW Medical Center has been named a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence™ by HealthGrades in 2003-2006, ranking them in the top 5% of acute care hospitals nationally for patient outcomes.

• CJW has received the 2006 Pulmonary Care and Vascular Care Excellence Awards™ by HealthGrades

• CJW and Henrico Doctors' named to Solucient's 100 Top Hospital: Cardiovascular List

• Henrico Doctors' received the 2005 and 2006 Stroke Care Excellence Awards™ by HealthGrades

• For 2005, Pulaski Community Hospital ranked in the top 10% of all of HCA for its patient satisfaction as measured by The Gallup Organization.

• Reston Hospital has received the hospital of choice award from the America alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAKCP) which recognized America's most customer friendly hospitals

• Lewis Gale is the second hospital in Virginia and one of only 128 in the country to be designated an "Accredited Chest Pain Center"

• CJW Medical's Johnston-Willis campus is only the third hospital in Virginia to be certified as Primary Stroke Center by the Joint commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
